Lumberjack and oil pioneer on Tjørnøy: how Arnt Ole stays busy with three Wear'N'Go products

Arnt Ole lives with drop foot, a knee replacement, and atrial fibrillation, but still fells trees at his cabin in Ryfylke. This is how he uses the Wear'N'Go Ankle Trainer, knee support, and compression stockings.

Even with paralysis in his right foot, a knee prosthesis, and atrial fibrillation, Arnt Ole Ingebretsen still fells trees and carries materials in steep terrain at his cabin in Ryfylke. He uses three products from Wear'N'Go in his daily life: the Ankle Trainer on his feet, Knee Support, and Calf Compression Sleeves. This is his story, told in his own words.

In brief

• Who: Arnt Ole Ingebretsen, active outdoorsman with a cabin on Tjørnøy in Ryfylke.

• Challenge: paralysis in his right foot (foot drop), knee prosthesis, and atrial fibrillation.

• How he stays active: Ankle Trainer on his feet, Knee Support for the stiff knee, and Calf Compression Sleeves for the swollen calf.

• His experience: with the products and sturdy hiking boots, he can still do heavy work in rugged terrain.

"It wouldn't have been possible to do this with foot paralysis without the help of these three products."

Arnt Ole Ingebretsen, Tjørnøy in Ryfylke

Arnt Ole contacted us after a phone call, wanting to share how he uses our products. We mainly reproduce his story as he himself formulated it. It begins long before Wear'N'Go existed.

An active life, and a back that failed

Arnt Ole has been an active man his entire life. Local football, company handball, cycling to work, and walks with his dog. For several years, he cycled long tours with overnight stays with friends in Spain. Today, he and his wife share the same hobby, but now on an e-bike.

Then his back failed. In 2017, he underwent surgery for a herniated disc with paralysis in his right foot. The surgeon said it would resolve within two years, but it never did. A new operation in 2019 also didn't restore sensation. In addition, radiation damage from a cancer operation in 2009 later led to atrial fibrillation, and in 2020 he received a full titanium knee prosthesis. His health challenges are many, but Arnt Ole talks about them with stoic calm:

"The paralysis meant I started limping. Cycling trips and walks with the dog suddenly became a chore."

Arnt Ole Ingebretsen

The hardest part of the paralysis isn't the pain. It's not feeling it when he sprains his ankle. He sees his ankle turn blue, but doesn't notice the injury itself when it happens. Therefore, since 2017, he has relied on sturdy shoes and hiking boots when walking, to avoid twisting his foot without noticing it.

How Arnt Ole uses the ankle trainer in everyday life

Through a good friend, Arnt Ole had heard about Wear'N'Go ever since its development began. When the product came on the market, he immediately bought one for each foot. With the Wear'N'Go Ankle Trainer on his feet, he experiences that his ankle gets more sensory feedback with each step. For Arnt Ole, this makes him more aware of how his foot is placed on the ground, which means a lot when the sensation is gone.

The Ankle Trainer is an ankle trainer, not a support. It has adjustable resistance that makes the ankle muscles work as you walk. At the same time, it stimulates proprioception, which is the body's ability to perceive position, movement, and the ground you are walking on. For a man who has lost sensation in his foot, this constant stimulation is invaluable. A clinical EMG study shows that the Wear'N'Go Ankle Trainer increases the activation of ankle stabilizers measurably more than regular walking. Professor Per Morten Fredriksen has researched ankle rehabilitation and proprioception for over 20 years, and you can read more about Professor Fredriksen's work with proprioception and rehabilitation. The Ankle Trainer is CE-marked as a medical device.

How Arnt Ole uses the ankle trainer

He wears the ankle trainer on both feet while walking. The paralyzed right foot makes it most important for him, because he doesn't feel it himself if he is about to sprain his ankle.

The Ankle Trainer is designed for daily walking, not for training or sports. Arnt Ole uses it in his own way in his own terrain, and shares his experience here.

Three products in everyday life

When the new products arrived in 2025, Arnt Ole also acquired the Wear'N'Go Knee Support (FDA-approved) and Wear'N'Go Calf Compression Sleeves (FDA-approved). His paralyzed foot is always swollen, and his right knee is stiff. All three products help him in his daily life.

"The paralyzed foot is always swollen and the right knee stiff. All 3 products help me daily here."

Arnt Ole Ingebretsen

The knee support provides compression and side stabilization and can help improve recovery in a knee that has been through a lot. The calf compression sleeves support circulation in the swollen calf, which many experience as good relief throughout the day.

Lumberjack Ingebretsen in action

What truly shows what the products mean to him is the work at his cabin on Tjørnøy. Now, during cabin season, when many are busy with spring cleaning, firewood logging, and hiking in the terrain, Arnt Ole continues to carry materials up the approximately 37 vertical meters from the pier, mow the lawn, clear brush, and fell trees in challenging, rugged terrain. This is how he describes it himself:

"Lumberjack Ingebretsen in action on Tjørnøy in Ryfylke. 3 products from WearNGo and hiking boots work wonders when felling trees in extremely rugged terrain."

He is honest about the limitations. On flat roads, there is too much limping, but in the rugged terrain along the rocky shores, he doesn't notice the limping as much. Together with hiking boots, the products allow him to still enjoy moving outdoors.

"I still limp and will do so for the rest of my life."

Arnt Ole Ingebretsen

What Arnt Ole is really talking about isn't a product. It's an everyday life he refuses to give up.

Important to know

Arnt Ole's experience is his own. We promise no specific results, and how much a product helps varies from person to person.

The Ankle Trainer is designed for daily walking, not for training or sports. If you have an injury, persistent pain, or a known health condition, you should first consult your doctor. Your doctor can assess what is right for you and, if necessary, refer you further.

More experiences with Wear'N'Go in everyday life

Arnt Ole is not alone in using multiple products to stay active. René Håheim from Tromsø is an active recreational athlete who uses both knee support and calf compression:

"I bought this to support an old knee injury. It allows me to engage in activities I previously avoided, such as mountain hikes. It provides good support, prevents swelling, and I find that circulation improves, so recovery time is reduced."

René Håheim, customer

Kristian says something similar about calf compression:

"For several years, I've had problems with restless legs, minor cramps, and quite sore calves after physically demanding activity. I chose to try this and experienced great improvement. Now I even use it when traveling by plane, going for walks, and generally in everyday life."
